Funeral services for Mr. Alford Leland Goolsby, 76 of Cookeville, will be held Monday February 24 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Hembree officiating. Interment will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Goolsby died Friday afternoon February 21, 2014 in Livingston Regional Hospital. He was born June 19, 1938 in Clay County, Tennessee to the late Wade Mitchell and Dona Dailey Goolsby. He was a retired Zinc Mine Driller and was a long-time butcher with Stark & Wincle in Indianapolis, Indiana. He loved coon hunting and Blue Grass Music. He was of the Pentecostal Faith In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosie Roberson and Lizza Dee Carmack; and three brothers, Earl Goolsby, Lawrence Goolsby, and Fred Goolsby. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Minnie Mae Pennington Goolsby (whom he married October 27, 1956 in Indianapolis); son, Glen Goolsby; three daughters, and two sons-in-law, Brenda and Don Maddox, Debbie Goolsby, Karen and Carl Mashburn all of Cookeville; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Macarthney, Samantha (Jessie) McCarty, Sharron (Chris)Buck, Glen Goolsby, Chad (Chelsea) Maddox, Nikkie Smith, Justin Mashburn, and Megan Mashburn; eight great grandchildren; sister, Earlene(Estus) Pennington of Celina; and five brothers, Benton (Pauline) Goolsby of Cookeville, Ed Goolsby of Carthage, Ralph (Cathy) Goolsby of Celina, Malcom (Joyce) Goolsby of Gainesboro, and Elmer and Betty) Goolsby of Bloomington, IN. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Goolsby's family will receive friends Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
