Lela Womack

Funeral services for Lela Mae Sullivan Womack, 102, of Cookeville and formerly of Doyle, TN, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Highland Cemetery in Sparta, Tennessee. The family will receive friends Tuesday June 10th from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and again Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Womack passed away on Saturday June 7, 2014 at Signature HealthCARE of Putnam County. She was born May 10, 1912 in White County to the late Layfayette "Fate" Pleasant and Cora Mae Green Sullivan. Mrs. Womack was a retired elementary school teacher and taught in White County Tennessee. She was a graduate of White County High School and Tennessee Technological University, and was a member of the Willow Avenue Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by one daughter, Sylvia "Sharon" Womack of Cookeville; three nieces and nephews, Simone and Jim Tuchi of New Brunswick, New Jersey; Phyllis and Edward Schweikert of Troy, Michigan; Brenda and Ronald Geer of Sparta; and by several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Franklin Womack; two sisters and brothers in law, Reba and Lawrence Erwin and Treva and Warren Terry. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Putnam County Rescue Squad. Bro. Mike Webb and Bro. Jeremiah Tatum will officiate at the services.
