Lee was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cookeville, and worked as machine operator/programmer in the family’s manufacturing business. He is survived by his parents, Kinion and Barbara Dunn; 3 brothers, Morgan Dunn, William Dunn, and Samuel Dunn. Other survivors are uncles, Terry Lee (Cynthia) George, Athens, TN; David (Ginger) Dunn, South Port, N.C.; Clay (Pat) Dunn, Big Water, UT. Lee was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clay and Edith Dunn and Emogene Brinker and William Wallace George; uncle, William Douglas George; aunt, Peggy Jean Bartley and first cousin Jamie Dolan. Bro. Max Mayo will officiate at the services. In celebration of Lee Douglas Dunn, we experienced the gift of his life for twenty-one years. His unique outlook on life and his creative nature led to a life full of travel and experiences. He was an important part of the family business, from the time he was old enough to sweep the floor, until now, as an industrial machine programmer. His diligent work ethic always got the job done. Everyone who knew Lee, loved him, and his charismatic nature. If you were to ask him what he was doing today, he would say, “I don’t know…it will be something, maybe a hike, road trip, or maybe even find an old truck to fix.” We loved him for his great stories and great times. Lee was an Eagle Scout and loved to hike and camp. We hiked and slept with him under the stars at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and many other beautiful places. He paddled the Cumberland River like Tom Sawyer, sailed and snorkeled around the Florida Keys, and enjoyed the hills of Tennessee. He and a close friend travelled across the country in his little truck, stopping at national parks, cities and towns…relaying those moments of wonder back to family and friends. He loved music—listening to it loud enough for everyone else to love it with him. He loved all types of music and especially live concerts, where his free spirit could soar. If you tried to cage that spirit, look out! Somehow, someway he always turned one dollar into two. If he had it, he would sell it or give it to you. We will always love you and miss you. We will continue to do the things you loved every day. You are still here with us, little brother…..son. We will never forget you, Lee. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boy Scouts of America or Helping Hands of Putnam County.
