Baxter Funeral services for Mr. Hermon Leon (Lee) Brown, age 86, of Baxter, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 4 at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Pharris officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Smellage Memory Gardens. Cookeville Masonic Lodge #266 F&AM will hold a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, at the funeral home. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 - 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Mr. Brown passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation in Monterey. He was born February 23, 1930 in Lenoir City, TN to the late George Washington and Sarah Gladys Jones Brown. Mr. Brown was a Korean War Veteran having served in the US Navy. He was retired from Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, MI with over 32 years of service. He was a member of Cookeville Masonic Lodge #266 F&AM. He enjoyed gardening, tinkering,and the simple farming life. He was a perfectionist with every task and was known for designing his garden in perfect rows. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Brown; sister, Betty Ann Brown; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Brown. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Tucker Brown, whom he married June 24, 1955 in Landrum, SC; son, Tom Brown of Cookeville; two grandsons, Adam (Jamie) Brown, Devin (Nichole) Brown, all of Cookeville; four great-grandchildren, Lillian, Olen, Preston, and Paisley Brown, and an expected great-grandchild, Geneva Marie (due in March).
