Lavalla Edgington

A Celebration of Life Service for LaValla Edgington, 79 of Cookeville, will be held Monday December 21st at 6 p.m. at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. Bro. Buddy Johnson will officiate. Her family will receive friends Monday from 3 p.m. until service time at the church. Mrs. Edgington died suddenly Saturday morning, December 19, 2015 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born December 11, 1936 in Cookeville to the late Fred Presley Sr. and Hallie Locke Presley. A lifelong resident of Cookeville, LaValla was a 1954 graduate of Cookeville Central High and attended Tennessee Polytechnic Institute. She was an active, lifelong member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. She worked in her son's business, M.E. Industries for 24 years. LaValla was a tireless and dedicated servant. Her greatest joy was spending time with her entire family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Presley Jr. and by a sister, Alcie Tudor. She is survived by her adoring family which includes her husband of 57 years, Terry Edgington (whom she married May 31, 1957 in Cookeville); sons, David Edgington and wife Karen, John Edgington, and Fred and wife Angie Edgington, all of Cookeville; grandchildren, Katie Edgington (Dan)Beasley, Drew (Kori) Edgington, Hallie Edgington, John David Edgington, John Terry Edgington, Jacob Edgington and Will Edgington; great grandchildren, Virginia Grace Beasley, Tucker Edgington, Ben Beasley and Tate Edgington; brother, Gaylon Presley and wife Frances of Cookeville; and by sisters, Lalloween Breeding of Crossville and LaVonna Phy of Algood.
