Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth "Kenny" Thomas, age 64 of Cookeville, will be held Monday, April 10th at 11 a.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. Bro. Johnny Fox will officiate. Mr. Thomas' family will receive friends Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again Monday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. He died Friday, April 7, 2017 at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. He was born June 13, 1952 in Cookeville to the late Ezell and Gladys Cole Thomas. Kenny was a 1972 graduate of Putnam County Senior High School. He served his country as a member of the US Army and was a decorated Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed as a manager with manufacturing companies- Gold Metal manufacturing in Baxter and Foamex and Sparta Spoke Factory in Sparta. Kenny was a hard worker and had an ability to build anything. Tough but always fair, Kenny had a great sense of humor and loved to make others laugh. He was a martial arts enthusiast. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by niece and nephew, Ashley and Anthony Mills. He is survived by his wife, Ellene Duncan Thomas of Cookeville; brother, Gary Thomas; sisters, Jeannie (Charles ‘Ray') Julian, all of Baxter, Susan (Jim) Slife of Cookeville; and by a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. His family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Saint Thomas West Hospital for their care extended to Kenny. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
