COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Kenneth Richard Brown, known affectionately as Ken, passed away on November 27, 2024 in Cookeville, Tennessee, at the age of 82. Born on August 22, 1942, in Shamrock, Texas, he was the cherished son of the late Henry and Lorene Buford Brown. Ken's legacy of hard work and creativity shone brightly through his multifaceted career as a business owner and engineer, where he made significant contributions to various industries.
After completing his high school education at Shamrock High School in Shamrock, Texas, Ken pursued higher learning at the University of North Texas, earning a degree in mechanical engineering. His professional journey began with Universal Studios in Hollywood, California, where he showcased his engineering prowess by designing intricate props, including battleships. He later contributed to the renowned B-2 bomber program at Northrop Grumman, working as a purchasing agent.
Ken was not only recognized for his engineering skills but also for his entrepreneurial spirit. He owned Proto-Tool Company and a number of Great Clips Hair Salon locations, where he built a reputation as a diligent businessman dedicated to excellence.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ken was a craftsman at heart, finding joy in building, fishing, and kayaking. He loved creating birdhouses and bird boxes, reflecting his deep appreciation for nature. He was a well-respected member of the community and an active member of Cookeville First Baptist Church.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Donna Sue Livesay of Cookeville; his daughter, Amy Lynn (Jason) Miller of Bedford, Texas; his stepsons, Scott (Missy) Livesay of Rickman, and Sean David (Rhonda) Livesay of Celina. He also leaves behind a precious legacy of grandparenthood, with grandchildren Lindsey Allen, Sarah Allen, Danica Miller, and Jessica Miller, all of Bedford, Texas; step-grandchildren Colby Livesay, Caleb Livesay, Jalyn Livesay, Aspen, and Kierstin; as well as seven great-grandchildren who will fondly remember him.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lorene Buford Brown; his sister, Fannie Francis; and his brother, Roger Brown. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his creative spirit, work ethic, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Funeral Services for Mr. Brown will be held 1pm, Saturday, November 30th at Cookeville First Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Head officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11am until time of services.
