Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth Winell Buckner, age 86 of Cookeville will be at 1 p.m. Saturday October 26 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Bro. David Hill will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. His family will receive friends Saturday 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Buckner passed away Wednesday October 23, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born November 10, 1932 in Cookeville, TN to the late William Estes Buckner and Pruna Mae Beasely Buckner. Mr. Buckner was an active member of Northeast Church of Christ. He was a Korean War Veteran having served 4 years in the US Navy on a destroyer tender. He retired from General Motors after 25 years of service as an auto worker. He also ran his own successful welding business for over 30 thirty years and was well-known for his advanced welding skills. He enjoyed woodworking and playing golf, and he was a gun enthusiast and an avid reader. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Stephenson Buckner, two sons, Steve Buckner (wife, Linda), Ken Buckner (wife, Pam) all of Atlanta, GA; two step-sons, Randy Webb of Crossville, Roy Webb of Knoxville; brother, Donald Buckner (wife, Juanita) of Cookeville; two grandsons, Will and Scott Buckner; three step-grandsons, Spencer, Brandon, and Bryson Webb; and great-grandson, Wade Buckner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Horace and Doyle Buckner. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
