Funeral services with military honors for Mr. Kelly Ryan Edwards, 28, of Junction City, KS, and formerly of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday August 4th at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Rev. Josh Dyer, Bro. Harold Walker and Pastor Mike Campbell will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services. His family requests everyone to wear orange as Kelly was a lifelong, avid fan of the Tennessee Volunteers. Kelly passed away on July 22, 2018 in Junction City, KS. He was born on September 8, 1989 in Cookeville, TN to Kevin Edwards and Kimberly Bennett Dyer both of Cookeville. Kelly joined the United States Army and proudly served for over 8 years as a Cannon Crew member (13B10). His military service included two tours in Iraq and he earned many awards and decorations that include, but are not limited to: Iraq Campaign Medal W/ Two Campaign Stars, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Unit Commendation (2nd Award), Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), and the Combat Action Badge. Following his service in the US Army, Kelly continued to serve as a member of the Kansas National Guard. He was employed as a lead carpenter with Jade Blinderman Construction Crew at Fort Riley. He will be dearly missed. Kelly is survived by his loving family: wife Crystal daughter Mikynzie and sons Jaxyn and Peyton of Junction City, KS; his father Kevin and wife Milly Edwards of Cookeville; his mother Kimberly and husband J.B. Dyer of Cookeville; his brothers, Kacy (Libby Miller) Edwards of Cookeville, Josh (Brittany) Dyer of Smyrna; Cody Wright and Joshua Wright, both of Cookeville, sisters, Courtney (Brian) Brauss of Old Hickory and Samantha Wright of Gainesboro; grandparents, J.T. (Jr.) and Ann Stockton Bennett of Cookeville and Ken and Carol Edwards of Algood; uncle, Keith (Ann) Edwards of Florida, aunt, Sherry (Keith) Krebs of Lawrenceville, GA; cousins, Courtnae Ramser of Hermitage, TN and Trae Ramser of Wellington, New Zealand; best friends Deven Morris of Cookeville and Joe Lusk of Junction City, KS; and a host of loving extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Catherine "Kay" Edwards; great grandparents, Walter and Ruthie Stockton, J.T. and Pearl Bennett, Sr. Delmon and Rose Edwards, and Lewis and Lois Yoder.
