Kayla Jones

Funeral services for Kayla Michelle Jones, age 18 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday January 15th at 1 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Algood City Cemetery. Kayla's family will receive friends Sunday from 12 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. She died suddenly Monday, January 9, 2017 at her residence. She was born August 20, 1998 in Cookeville and was an early graduate of the Cookeville High School Class of 2017. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Friendly, big-hearted and free-spirited, Kayla easily made friends. She was a gifted artist and enjoyed science and genealogy. She won gardening awards at the Putnam County Fair for the pumpkins and watermelons she grew. She was preceded in death by an uncle, James Jones and by an aunt, Jo-an Britner. She is survived by her adoring family, her parents, Shannon and Linda Jones Thomas; two brothers, Kristopher Short of Cookeville, and James Thomas of Franklin, TN; sister, Krystal Short, all of Cookeville; grandparents, Charlie and Bonnie Jones of Algood and Perry and Betty Thomas of Brenham, TX; aunts and uncles, Charles and April Jones, Julia Jones, Mike and Mae Hintzel and Vicki and Gene Swonke; and by numerous cousins.
