Kay Thrasher

Graveside services and interment for Mrs. Margaret "Kay" Carrington Thrasher, age 85 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, August 17th at 2:00 p.m. at Colliers Cemetery in Bledsoe County, TN. Bro. Buddy Johnson will officiate. Her family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. Mrs. Thrasher died Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Margaret Kay Holland Carrington Thrasher was born September 9, 1936 in the Atpontley community near Dunlap,TN in the home of her parents, Herbert and Myrtle Holland. She married Foy Brodie Carrington 1957 in Detroit, Michigan and they had three children. She was preceded in death by both Foy (1992) and her second husband Dewey Young Thrasher, who died in 2021. Mrs.Thrasher served as co-chairman of the March of Dimes during the late 1960s and actively campaigned for the organization for many years. She worked for Fleetguard/Cummins in international customer service for over 20 years. Kay was a faithful member of the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ since 1965. She was a great gardener with a good sense of humor appreciated by many friends and neighbors. Kay devoted many hours visiting the elderly and shut-in community. Kay was known by all for her smile, laugh, and determination to see positivity. Class, taste, positivity, warmth, a helpful and willing spirit, and devotion to the Lord are all common themes remembered by those around her. She loved as hard as she laughed and everyone who knows her will appreciate her impact and she will live on in every heart she touched. She is survived by a son, Curtis Foy Carrington (Kelli Augenstein Carrington); daughters, Crystal Amirkhanian (Henry Amirkhanian) and Candy Bertini (Steve Bertini); grandchildren, Ashley Amirkhanian, Maxwell Bertini, Casey Bertini, Conor Carrington, Claire Carrington and Colin Carrington. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are suggested to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or Alzheimer's Tennessee, Cumberlands Office, 390 South Lowe Avenue, Suite I, Cookeville, TN 38501.
