Kathy Johnson

Kathy Ruth Johnson, a cherished sister, cousin, and aunt, passed away peacefully at her residence in Cookeville, TN, on November 28, 2023, at the age of 67. Born on November 2, 1956, in the same town she would call home for her entire life, Kathy was known for her loving nature and kind spirit.

Kathy's life was one of quiet dedication to the things she held dear. Her family was the centerpiece of her world, and she showered them with love and affection in every possible way. She was a source of unwavering support and gentle guidance, always there to listen and offer a comforting embrace. Kathy's presence was a sweet and calming force within her family circle, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

She is survived by her three loving sisters, Linda Cartwright, Judy Cullom, and Patsy Gist; her devoted brother, Randy Johnson; Her devoted brother-in-laws, Johnnie Cullom and Bob Gist; and her devoted cousin, Katie Sampler. Her legacy also lives on through an extended family of adoring nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will carry forward the lessons of love and kindness that Kathy exemplified throughout her life.

Kathy was preceded in death by her loving mother, Virginia Louise Johnson; her sister, Donna Johnson; and her brothers, Ronnie and Tommy Johnson. The family takes comfort in knowing that Kathy has now reunited with her beloved family members who departed before her.

Those who knew Kathy will remember her as a person who preferred to keep to herself, yet never hesitated to extend a helping hand or a listening ear to those around her. Her interests were simple but profound: a life well-lived, filled with sweet moments and the warmth of family gatherings.

Funeral services honoring Kathy will be at 1 p.m. Thursday December 7 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Rev. Jonathan Young will officiate. Interment will follow at West End Church of Christ Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time.
