Funeral service for Mrs. Kathleen Adams, age 78, of Cookeville, will be at 5 p.m. Friday, April 13, at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Buddy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 3 p.m. until service time. Mrs. Adams passed away Thursday morning April 12, 2018 at her home. She was born March 15, 1940 in Crossville, TN to the late Alton Sr. and Lenora Elmore Witt. Mrs. Adams was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. She worked in the banking profession in both Chattanooga and Cookeville. She also was an entrepreneur. She opened the Chocolate Drop in Cookeville that specialized in cakes and cake decorating classes. Kathy later opened Liberty Cake Company on the square where she continued teaching others to decorate cakes. She made wonderful cakes there as well along with serving delicious lunches. She was also an artist in painting sceneries. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and caregiver for her family. She is survived by her husband, Hugh Adams; three daughters, Cindy (Raoul) Russell of Pakistan, Ginny (Bryan) Henson of Cookeville, and Lisa Mabrey of Cookeville; step-children, Teresa Adams (Gay Shepherd), Tammy (Mickey) Ryan, Tina Bartlett all of Cookeville, and Tony (Heather) Adams of Washington DC; sister, Margaret (Dr. James Smith) of Cookeville; brother, Al (Sandra) Witt, Jr. of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Zach (Sarah) Henson, Emily Kathleen (Jamie) Henson Starkey, all of Cookeville; and David Steine of Brooklyn, NY; step grandchildren, Austin, Justin, and Tamika Ryan, Autumn Kinniard, Andy Adams, Reece Bilbrey, Tianna Bilbrey, and Adelia Adams; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Noah Hunt, Winnie Kathleen Henson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Penner; and nephews, Mike and Chris Smith. Pallbearers will be Bryan Henson, Jared Smith, William Smith, and Wade Adkins.
