Karen Thomas

October 23, 1957 — April 13, 2020

Graveside services and interment for the family of Mrs. Karen Elaine Thomas, age 62 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Cookeville City Cemetery. Bro. John Rodgers will officiate. Mrs. Thomas died Monday April 13, 2020 at her residence following extended illnesses surrounded by her family. She was born October 23, 1957 in Lawrenceburg, TN to the late Herman Albert Moore, Sr. and Mary Lee Huddleston Moore. Her family lived in Nashville for a time before settling in Cookeville during Karen's freshman year of high school. Karen displayed a strong work ethic throughout her life, working as a manager with McDonalds and at the original location of Taco Bell in Cookeville. She prided herself in her work while building strong relationships with her coworkers. Later on, she was employed by ARC, working to provide jobs, training resources, and managing grants to benefit those with disabilities including those in the Upper Cumberland diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. She was well respected among her peers and clients who admiringly referred to her as K.T. She was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Cookeville. Friendly and outgoing, Karen was always positive and happy which was reflected in her beautiful smile. Her silliness, complimented with hints of sassiness, endeared her to many. She will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by brothers, Tommy Moore and Avon "Bo" Moore; and niece, Amber Sexton. She is survived by daughter, Shannon (Tim) Beaty of Cookeville; son, Christopher (Shana) Thomas of Sparta; grandchildren, Savannah Beaty and Logan Beaty; brother, Sonny (Sherry) Moore of Brentwood; nephew and nieces, Travis (April) Moore, Ginny (Nicholas) Von Blohn, Misty Moore (Andrew Evans) and Crystal (Jammie) Williams; and great nieces and nephews, Jonathan Evans, Hudson Moore, and Lexie, Alyssa and Anzly Williams. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to Alzheimer's Tennessee, Cumberlands Office, 390 South Lowe Ave., Suite I, Cookeville, TN 38501. Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111.
