Funeral services for Mr. Willie (J.R.) Swallows, 77 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday July 2nd 11a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. Bro. Joel Hillis will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm and again Thursday from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Mr. Swallows died Tuesday afternoon June 30th at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born June 20, 1938 in Cookeville to the late Clarence Haskel and Maggie Lean Tinch Swallows. Mr. Swallows worked for over 20 years as a technician and mechanical repairman for Coca Cola. He was a member of Antioch Church of Christ. J. R. will be fondly remembered as a fun-loving person who got along with everyone, and as a person who was loved by everyone. He enjoyed fishing, mechanics and cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Raymond Swallows and by a son-in-law, Lester Dale Barnett. Mr. Swallows is survived by his of wife of 58 years, Billie F. Swallows; sons, Michael Lynn (Loretta) Swallows of Cookeville and Steven Junior (Mara) Swallows of Fort Myers, FL; daughters, Angela K. (Glenn) Trumbo of Bellevue and Barbara Georgette Barnett of Mason, MI; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; brother, Charles Walter Swallows of Cookeville ; and sister, Bobbie Jean (Gilbert) Ordway of Sparta. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
