Funeral services for Mrs. June G. Mattson, age 87 of Cookeville will be held Friday April 18 at 1 o'clock in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Brother Mike Palk will officiate. Mrs. Mattson died on Wednesday evening April 16, 2014 at Heritage Pointe Senior Living. She was born March 21, 1927, in Cookeville to the late John Edward and Dixie Crabtree Grizzard. Mrs. Mattson was dearly loved by her family and friends. She was an active resident at Heritage Pointe for the last two years of her life and made many dear friends among the residents and staff. She was a life-long member of Cookeville First Baptist Church and active in many local clubs and organizations throughout her life. She was a retired case-worker with the State of Tennessee's Department of Employment Security. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John E. Grizzard, Jr. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dale William "BeBo" and Kathy Mattson of Cookeville; three daughters, Martha (Dan) Smith of Lexington, KY, Marie Thompson of Cookeville, and Beth Fulton of Chattanooga; 13-grandchildren, Tracy (Greg) Hettman, Sarah Wilmoth, Julie (Ryan) Wiggins, Shaun (Kristina) Thompson, Matt (fiancé , Dana) Thompson, Libby Fulton, James Fulton, Ryan (DeShawn) Mattson, Rachel (Grant) Hall, David (Kristen) Mattson, Ty (Kristen) Smith, Thom (Leigh) Smith, and Ted Smith; 15-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Dottie (Bill) DuBois and Darlene (Everett) Dyer all of Houston, TX. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial contributions be made to Susan G. Komen 480 One Eleven Place Cookeville, TN 38506 or to a favorite charity. Mrs. Mattson's family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on April 18th.
