Judy Herren Harris

May 10, 1950 — April 30, 2024

BAXTER- Judy Carol Harris, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024, in Silver Point, TN at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born on May 10, 1950, in Putnam County, TN, Judy's life was a tapestry of devotion to her family and her community, woven with threads of creativity and humor. She was known to all simply as Judy, and she carried her name with the grace and kindness that so defined her.

Judy's journey through life was one marked by deep connections and enduring love. She attended Upperman High School in Baxter, she carried the lessons of her youth throughout her life, embodying the values of education, hard work, and family. Judy spent her years as a dedicated homemaker, a role she cherished and in which she thrived, creating a warm and welcoming home for all who entered.

In her quiet moments, Judy found solace and joy in the pursuit of genealogy research. She traced the roots of her family tree with the patience and precision of a skilled historian, ensuring that the stories of her ancestors would not be forgotten. Judy's love for storytelling extended beyond the past and into her own creative expressions, as she penned songs and poems that captured the hearts of those around her.

A faithful member of the Silver Point Church of Christ, Judy's spirituality was a cornerstone of her life. Her faith was evident in her actions, her generosity, and her unwavering support for her community. Judy's church family was an extension of her own, and she served with a spirit of grace that touched the lives of many.

Judy's sense of humor was as integral to her personality as her kindness. She had an uncanny ability to find joy in the everyday and to share that joy through laughter. Her wit and levity were a comfort to her family and friends, a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is light to be found.

Family was the heart of Judy's world, and she was the heart of her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Carl Gerald "Bill" Harris, and by her siblings, Carolyn Sue Herren, Mary Nell Shores, Jan Burton, Ezra "Bud" Herren, and Ronnie Herren. Judy's legacy is carried forward by those who were blessed to share in the wonder of her life, her laughter, and her love.

Judy's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She imparted wisdom, instilled values, and most importantly, shared endless moments of fun and laughter, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.

To know Judy was to know what it means to be loved unconditionally. She was the embodiment of a loving spirit, a funny soul, and a generous heart. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt. Yet, the echoes of her laughter and the warmth of her love will remain as a comforting embrace to those she leaves behind.

She is survived by daughters, Lynette (Jeff) Ellis of Silver Point, JoJo (Jim) Braddom of Baxter; grandchildren: Jordy (Shianna) Ellis, Jenna (Tyler) Chase, Kellie Jo Casey (Terry), great-grandchildren: Lena Ellis, Tatum Ray, Jenessa Chase and Teagan Ray.

Services will be Friday, May 3 at 11 AM at Silver Point Church of Christ, 6701 Smithville Hwy., Silver Point, TN with Bro. Luke Wilken officiating. She will be laid to rest in the G.V. Herren Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home 532 4th Avenue South, Baxter, TN.
