Judy Brown

September 23, 1945 — June 28, 2024

COOKEVILLE-Judy Esalee Brown, a beacon of kindness and a cherished member of the Cookeville community, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2024, in Carthage, TN. Born on September 23, 1945, in Cookeville, TN, Judy lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her work, and her faith. She had a beautiful smile, she was honest and caring and always put others before herself.

Judy's early years in Cookeville were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family, and she carried that sense of belonging throughout her life. She was the loving daughter of the late Lee and Odell Hutchison Hedgecough, who instilled in her the values of compassion and service that she would embody so fully.

Judy's journey through life was shared with her beloved husband, Franklin Jesse Brown, until his passing on August 21, 2021. Together, they built a life full of love and laughter, a foundation that would support Judy even after Franklin's departure. Her heart was large enough to encompass not only her own family but also all those she encountered, a testament to her immense capacity for love.

Her professional life was spent at Tutco of Cookeville, where Judy's dedication and work ethic were as evident as her ever-present smile. Her colleagues knew her as a woman of integrity and generosity, someone who brought out the best in those around her.

Judy's faith was an integral part of her essence, and as a member of the Church of Christ, she found strength and solace in her beliefs. Her faith guided her through life's challenges and was a source of comfort to those she loved.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Lee Brown of Cookeville, special niece, Michelle Smith and great niece, Kaylee Smith; four grandchildren, Nick, Travis, Kyle and Andy; and several great grandchildren. Judy was also a loving mother to her daughter, Pamela Darnell, who preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Westmoreland officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Judy's life was a portrait of the love she gave freely and the grace with which she lived. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who knew her. Judy Esalee Brown will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire kindness in others for generations to come.
