Mrs. Judith Ilene Amonette, age 81 Monroe, TN and former longtime resident of Cookeville, died Thursday March 18, 2021 at her residence. No services were planned. She was born September 14, 1939 in Binghamton, NY to the late Jeremiah Joseph and Helen Sweeney Hammit. She was a 1957 graduate of Oak Ridge (TN) High School and enjoyed attending class reunions. Judy was a member of the Cookeville Jaycees and served as president in 1970 and was awarded Jaycette of the Year in 1969. She was also awarded Woman of the Year of Cookeville in 1969. She was honored in "Outstanding Young Women of America" publication in 1970. In more recent years, she was a 'snowbird', spending winters in Florida. She enjoyed traveling to Greece, Italy, France, and Australia. She was an avid bowler and was a member of the Gunnels Florist bowling team for 15 years. She is survived by son, Tony Amonette of Cookeville; daughters, Linda Spurlock and husband Doug of Kissimmee, FL and Amie Cook of Cookeville; grandchildren, Kisha West, Justin Cook, Kyle Cook, Bailey Spurlock and Logan Spurlock; great grandchildren, Brianna Cook, Amari West, Michelle Cook and Kolton Cook; brothers, Doug Hammit and Jeremiah Hammit, Jr.; and by many special friends including the Tennessee Tech University homecoming gang. Memorial contributions were suggested to be made to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org. Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111.
