Joyce Hoese

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Joyce Hoese, born on May 25, 1946, in Putnam County, TN, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a beloved figure and will be remembered for her sweet personality.

Joyce dedicated much of her life to her loved ones, working as a secretary for her late husband, Gary "Bruce" Hoese. Her commitment to her family was evident in all aspects of her life. She is survived by her son, Kevin Harley; her sister, Brenda (Paul) Flatt; her brother, Bailey Dee (Willene) Goolsby; as well as three stepsons, Gary Hoese, Terry (Amy) Hoese, and Brian Hoese. Joyce also leaves behind numerous cherished nieces and nephews who will carry fond memories of her spirit and love.

Joyce had a diverse range of hobbies and interests that illuminated her days. An avid fan of Elvis Presley and the band The Eagles, she found joy in music. Her love for flowers and gardening provided her with endless delight, and she was known as an animal lover. Additionally, her passion for reading allowed her to explore new worlds through the written word.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Bessie Petty Goolsby, as well as her first husband, Danny Harley, and her second husband, Gary "Bruce" Hoese. Joyce was also welcomed into the next life by her brothers, Cecil Goolsby and Paul (Red) Goolsby, and her sisters, Marie Smith, Jessie Mae Chance, Mary Goolsby, and Polly Jackson.

Funeral services for will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 3:00 pm in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Sharp will officiate. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. 

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
