Joyce Eldridge

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Anna Joyce Eldridge, affectionately known as Joyce, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at her residence in Algood, Tennessee. Born on January 16, 1941, in Overton County, Tennessee, Joyce was a beloved figure in her community and was known for her sweet disposition and unwavering spirit of kindness.

Joyce dedicated much of her life to her family and her work. She and her late husband, Arnold Eldridge, worked side by side as truck drivers before their well-deserved retirement. Their partnership was not only one of love but also showcased their commitment to supporting one another throughout their lives.

A devout Christian woman, Joyce was an active member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church, where she found great joy in fellowship and community service. Her faith guided her through life’s challenges, and she consistently sought to help anyone in need around her.

Joyce leaves behind a loving family who cherishes her memory. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Nelson (Mike); her granddaughter, Angela Simmons (Ray); her brother-in-law, Larry Eldridge; and her step-great-granddaughter, Bryana Simmons, along with her step-great-great-grandson, Jackson Dickerson.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Owen Little and Bertha Wright Little, and her husband, Arnold Eldridge. Her spirit and the warmth she brought to those around her will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A funeral service honoring Joyce will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday March 23 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Mark Gaw will officiate. Visitation for friends and family will be from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Joyce will be laid to rest at Algood City Cemetery.
