A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Joy Eddeana Hastings, age 61 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, March 24th at 12:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Warren will officiate. Her family will receive friends Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. She died Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. She was born October 17, 1957 in Sayama, Japan to the late Edward and Ruth Louise Hayden Tate. Her family moved often with her father's military service but Joy resided in Vista, California and also in Texas. She moved to Cookeville after meeting her husband and has been employed at Ficosa and Academy Sports in recent years. She was a proud graduate of Fortis Institute as a truck driver in 2015. Joy was loud, fun loving and loved to joke and play games. She had a big heart and was concerned with the needs of others. She especially enjoyed hummingbirds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin brother, Eddie Tate and by grandson, Thomas Lorenzo Rodriquez. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Robert Hastings; daughter, Jasauana McClelland of Las Vegas; sons, Thomas Rodriquez of Cookeville and Edwin Barr of Minnesota; grandchildren, Tonya Conception, Joseph Virgil and Kadence Rodriquez; great grandchild, Kaiden Matias; and sisters, Denise Venzor, Frances Belander, Tracey McDonald and Karen Tate.
