A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Jose Mendez Francisco, age 90, of Cookeville, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 16 at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Fr. Chad Puthoff officiating. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 p.m until time of the services at the church. Mr. Francisco passed away Thursday December 14, 2017 at his home. He was born September 10, 1927 in San Miguel, Guatemala to the late Guadelupe Francisco. He is survived by sons, Juan, Miguel, Julio, Jose, Juan, Mateo, and Valentin Mendez; daughters, Maria, Guatemala, Miriam, Lorenza, and Guadalupe Mendez; brothers, Francisco and Juan Mendez; and sisters, Tereza and Magadelan Mendez; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalena Mendez. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
