Joni Johnson

Mrs. Joni Eileen Teague Johnson, passed away at the age of 72 on August 17, 2024. She was born March 11, 1952, in Sweetwater, TN.

Joni was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Edna "Blanche" Morris Teague. She was preceded in death by her husband, AJ Johnson, her brother, Lonnie Teague, and her dear aunts, Margaret Morris and Doris Chumney. Joni's life was also graced by the enduring friendship of Marion Ervin, her best friend of many years, who predeceased her.

Her legacy continues through her loving daughters, Jenny and her husband Laryne Conley, and Carissa Johnson. She was the proud and doting grandmother to Kaitlyn McKenzie Cardona, Ethan Laryne Conley, Emma Grace Conley, and Annabelle Hope Johnson. Joni's brother, Ricky, and his wife Marlene Teague of Cleveland, TN, also survive her.

Joni attended Tellico Plains High School and was a 1970 graduate of Bradley Central High School. She moved to Cookeville to start a new life after her husband AJ passed and then attended Tennessee Tech University.

She has worked for over 34 years in customer service at Identity Group in Cookeville. She attended Life Church in Cookeville.

A woman of many interests, Joni was an avid art and painting enthusiast, drawing inspiration from the calm and serene landscapes of Bob Ross. She enjoyed working in her yard, and she found joy in the simple pleasure of antiquing. Joni was an fan of Hallmark movies, and her adventurous spirit was fulfilled through her traveling on cruises. She was a great cook and her family will continue to enjoy her recipes for many years to come.

Above all, Joni cherished her grandchildren, for whom she would move mountains. Her love for them knew no bounds, and she left behind a treasure trove of memories filled with laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love. Her sweet disposition, combined with an undeniable toughness and conservative values, made Joni an extraordinary woman who was respected and loved by all who knew her.

Her family will receive friends Wednesday evening, August 21st from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (CDT) at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.

A graveside services and interment will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. (EDT) at Gray Memorial Cemetery in Tellico Plains, TN.

Ethan Conley, Emma Conley, Kaitlyn Cardona, Annabelle Johnson, Laryne Conley, Del Robinson, Scott McCloud and Justin McCloud will serve as pallbearers.
