Funeral Services for Mr. Johnny Pinkston, 70 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday September 4th at 11 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Johnny Fox and Rev. Terry McCloud will officiate. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Pinkston's family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Pinkston died peacefully Sunday evening, August 31, 2014 at his residence. He was born July 20, 1944 in Buffalo Valley, TN to the late Molly Sybil Pinkston Wallace. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clifford F. Pinkston and Clevie Smith Pinkston. Mr. Pinkston has owned Citgo Auto Care on Washington Ave for the past 26 years. His direct, ‘tell it like it is' and honest nature earned him many loyal customers through the years. He also had worked for General Electric for 12 years while living in Louisville, KY in the 1970s and as an auctioneer after moving back to Cookeville. He and his wife attended Holladay Church of Christ. He will be dearly missed by his devoted wife, family and community. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Freida Gentry Pinkston (whom he married October 30, 1964 in Silver Point), daughter and son in law, Lisa and Patrick Brown; son, Wally Kennon; five grandchildren, Samantha Boyd, Sarah Kennon, Spencer Kennon, Jonathan Brown all of Cookeville, and Thomas Brown of Fort Riley, Kansas; great granddaughter, Shyann Hammock; sisters Velma Sue Wallace Cronk and Nancy Ann Wallace Johnson of Cookeville; and by special friends, Mike Barnes, Gary Goolsby and Chris Cunningham. Mike Barnes, Chris Cunningham, Gary Goolsby, James Vinson, Danny Hall, and Thomas Brown will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association-Greater Nashville Chapter, 1818 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
