John Parr

Graveside services and interment for John Alvin Parr, age 74, of Cookeville, will be Wednesday, August 17, at 10 a.m. in the Rockwell Cemetery in Putnam County, TN. Bro Tommy Harris will officiate. Mr. Parr passed away Monday, August 15, 2016, at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville. He was born June 4th, 1942 in Chattanooga, TN to the late John and Gladys Rockwell Parr. John was a member of Popular Grove Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran. He formerly worked as a member of Elvis Presley’s personal security team and had retired as a welder. John is fondly remembered as a compassionate person who was quick to help people in need. He is survived by to close friends, Edna Henson and Sharon Baungardner both of Cookeville. John’s friends wish to extend their appreciation to the staff at Bethesda Health Care Center. Dyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
