Funeral Services for John Lewis Whiteaker, age 69 of Cookeville will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Scott Avenue Baptist Church with burial to follow in the West Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, May 27, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Scott Avenue Baptist Church as well. Mr. Whiteaker passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. John was born September 20, 1941 in White County TN to the late Oscar Whiteaker and Arrie Elrod Whiteaker. He was a member of the Scott Avenue Baptist Church and was loved by his church family. He spent his life in Auto repair, owning his own shop most of his life. Mr. Whiteaker is survived by his wife Betty Sue Whiteaker, two children Deborah Sue Roberts (husband Dennis Lynn) and son Johnny Wayne Whiteaker (wife Rose Marie) both of Cookeville. He is also survived by three brothers Beecher (Toots) Whiteaker of Sparta, Kenneth (Alene) Whiteaker of Myrtle Beach SC, and Herbert Whiteaker (Edna) of Raleigh NC as well as two sisters Christine Henry of Sparta and Jane Bumbalough (Ralph) of Walling TN. John is also survived by six grandchildren Laura Sue Dyer (Jared), Jonathan Lynn Roberts (Nikki), Stacy Marie Rector, Ashley Rose Whiteaker, Tommy Wayne Showalter and Kelly Lynn Goble (Matthew). As well as seven great-grandchildren Terrance Jordan Rector, Alexis Paige Rector, Jackson Lynn Roberts, Layla Aline Strode, Javyn Keon Strode, Isaiah Nathaniel Showalter and Kipton Matthew Goble. He is also survived by a close friend, Jimmy Mott. John was preceded in death by his parents, one brother William Whiteaker, and one sister Ailene Robbins. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers. Bro. Mickey Leftwich and Bro. Ralph Dunn will be conducting the services.
