John was born December 3, 1944, in Dearborn, MI to the late Charles and Ethel Taylor Lalone. John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean Dodd Lalone, daughters, Janice (Randy) Scarlett and Sharon (Bobby) Williams, grandchildren, Carrie (Alan) Harris, Shelby (Andy) Bain, Libby Scarlett, Amy (Sergio) Bautista, Kristin Williams, and Adam Scarlett, great-grandchildren, Sylas, Adalynn, and Axel Bain and Viviana Bautista, his brother, David (Linda) Lalone, his mother-in-law, Wanda Dodd, brothers-in-law, Allen (Judy) Dodd, Mark (Tammy) Dodd, sister-in-law, Dorothy Blair, and a host of cousins, neices and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his cat, Kitty Kitty. John served in the National Guards for 8 years. In his younger days, he was the owner/operator of Druthers restaurant and several other businesses. He realized he was a salesman at heart and enjoyed talking to people. He spent several years selling cars before he suffered a disabling stroke at the age of 45. John found he had a passion for serving the Lord through mission trips and witnessing to others. His mission trips included Romania, Mexico, Venezuela, and Wheelwright, KY. Although the stroke diminished his speech, he was still able to communicate how much he loved the Lord. Anytime anyone questioned life, John would respond by saying, "God knows." He loved to go camping. He enjoyed the visits from family and friends while camping and was especially excited when Harley, his great-granddog, came to visit. For 31 years, he struggled daily from the effects of his stroke. He was greatly admired by his family for never giving up. He fought the good fight even when it would have been easier to give up. Pallbearers will be Randy Scarlett, Bobby Williams, Alan Harris, Sergio Bautista, Adam Scarlett, and Keith Taylor . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 332047, Nashville, TN 37203.
