Funeral services for Mr. John William Hood, 68 of Cookeville will be held Saturday June 17 at 11 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. John's family will receive friends Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. John died Wednesday morning June 14, 2017 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Friday June 10, 1949 in Aransas Pass, Texas to the late John Stanley and Ruby Shirley Hood. He was a 1967 graduate of Cumberland County High School and attended Summerfield United Methodist Church. He was self-employed in the transportation industry where he owned and operated J Hood Pilot Car Service. John was an avid hunter. He was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Hood. Survivors include his wife, June Moody Hood; son, Brandon Hood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri and Scott Lytal all of Cookeville and Monica and Willie Cason of Sparta; three grandchildren, Justin (Rachel) Lytal, Loren (Jonathan) Korch, and Izabella Hood; great grandson, Palmer Lee Lytal; and a host of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. John's family will receive friends Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
