BAXTER-Funeral services for John Melvin Herron, 69 of Baxter, will be Thursday, April 21 at 1 PM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Dobbs Cemetery in Putnam County. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM and after 10 AM Thursday until service time at the funeral home. Pastor Ted Kocher will officiate. Mr. Herron died Sunday, April 17, 2022 at his home. He was born January 13, 1953 in Royal Oak , Michigan to Georgia Van DerVeen Herron of Smithville and the late Melvin "Babe" Herron. He was a graduate of Hazel Park, Michigan High School. John was the owner-operator of John Herron Trucking in Baxter. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, fishing and camping. Survivors in addition to his mother include son, Joshua Herron and girlfriend Amanda Ferguson of Baxter; sisters, Debbie (Larry) Frazier of Cookeville, Carolyn Herron of Baxter, Pam Rodgers and Roger Tramel of Smithville; granddaughter, Rebecca Herron and fiancee Spencer Mullins; step grandsons, Landon Woodcock and Dalton Woodcock, step-granddaughter Shyera Schroepfer; step-daughters, Crystal Schroepfer, Freida Bauer, Anita Hackworth and Renee Adams, nieces Tammy Angel, Danyelle Rodgers, Cindy Rodgers and Angie Rodgers, nephews Bob Angel and Billy Rodgers; niece, Tabatha Herron. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, please make donations toward funeral expenses.
