John Harvey Greenwood

Funeral services for John Harvey Greenwood, 85, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27 from the Sycamore Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and then again from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, at Dyer Funeral Home. He was born May 30, 1923 in Putnam County to the late John Wesley and Maude Greenwood. Mr. Greenwood was a very loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed antiquing, travelling, and fishing. He was a member of the Sycamore Church of Christ for over 70 years. He was co-owner with his brother Dewey of Greenwood’s Drive-In for many years. He served on the Putnam County Commission for 17 years. His family includes Beatrice Davidson Greenwood, his wife for 63 years; a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Tom Walters of Montgomery, AL; a brother, Dewey Greenwood; a sister, Louise Goodwin of Cookeville; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Patrick Walters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Cortez Greenwood; and three sisters, Lena Taylor, Betty Hargis, and Stella Mae Greenwood. Pallbearers will be C.D. Robinson, Vernon Locke, Haskell Taylor, Mike Hargis, Jack Shapourian, and Gary Jett. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and nephews-in-law, and elders and deacons at Sycamore Church of Christ. Memorial donations may be made to the Sycamore Church of Christ Building Fund, 1144 Crescent Drive, Cookeville, TN 38501. Bros. Jason Hart and Horace Burks will officiate at the services.
