Funeral services for John Fred Fonville, 66 of Fall Creek Falls, Pikeville, Tennessee will be Friday, January 11 at 1 PM from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community of Putnam County. Rev. Terry Little will officiate. Mr. Fonville died Saturday January 5, 2019 at Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. He was born April 3, 1952 in Chattanooga to the late Thomas Graves Fonville and Mary Ruth Bibb Fonville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Elisabeth Gaines "Gai" Fonville and a brother William Fitzpatrick "Bill" Fonville, his father and mother-in-law, James and Mildred Christian, and his brother and sister-in-law, Jim Puckett and Carolyn Christian. John was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee where he attended West High School and was a member of the Church Street United Methodist Church. John graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1976. He recently retired as the long-time general manager of the Fall Creek Falls State Park Inn and Conference Center, assisting guests in the park he loved for over 40 years. John enjoyed sports and was a lifelong Vols fan. Survivors include wife of 36 years (Married May 1, 1982 in Fall Creek Falls State Park) Dorthy Nell Christian Fonville, children John Christian (Stephanie) Fonville and Elizabeth Faith Fonville, brother Thomas "Tommy" Graves Fonville, Jr., brother and sister-in-laws, Jannie Maxwell, Shirley Puckett, Robert ( Kim) Christian, Patsy (Herbert) Allison, Deborah (David) Clark, Donna (Milton) Ashburn, Sarah Stamps, Allen (Tammy) Christian, and a host of other family and friends. Family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 8 PM and after 11 AM Friday at the funeral home. Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (931)526-6111.
