Joanne Seiler

d. August 30, 2018

Emily Joanne Seiler, 78, of Cookeville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on August 30, 2018. Joanne was a loving wife and mother who committed her life to her family. Being raised in Atlanta, Georgia, in her early-30s, she gave up her career in data processing to raise her two boys. She was a devoted wife of 44 years and an active member in the Baptist church nearly all of her life, beginning with Confederate Avenue Baptist Church in Atlanta and, most recently, Wilhite Baptist Church in Cookeville. Her husband, John, moved with her to Cookeville from Oxford, Georgia, in 2013 to be closer to her sons, who live in Nashville and Cookeville, albeit her heart never left Georgia where she had her best friend and neighbor, Joyce; much of her immediate and extended family; and many fond memories. She was a humble, kind, and loving soul who loved to love, but never wanted the spotlight. She was such an easy person to love, and her spirit was uplifting to everyone she met. She was a breast cancer survivor, and proudly participated in the Susan G. Komen Walk for a Cure. We love her dearly, and she will be sorely missed and never forgotten. She is survived by her husband, John Seiler; her oldest son, Michael Seiler, of Nashville, Tennessee; her youngest son, Steven Seiler; daughter-in-law, Beth Powell-Seiler; her only grandson, Benjamin Seiler, whom she adored and was the apple of her eye; her brother, Jerry Ritchey, and sister-in-law, Barbara Ritchey, of Conyers, Georgia; her nephew, Donny Ritchey, and his wife, Paige, of Covington, Georgia; her niece, Keri Ritchey, of Monticello, Georgia; and many other family members in Georgia and elsewhere, all of whom she loved dearly. She will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia, with her mother and father, Emily and Everett Ritchey, at 11:00am (EST) on September 15, 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Joanne's name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, a cause that she strongly and proudly supported, or the Alzheimer's Association. Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home (931)526-6111. hhhfunerals.com
