Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Joanne Moody, 83 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, February 8th at 11 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Arlington of Tennessee Cemetery. Pastor Myron Greer will officiate. Her family will receive friends Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Moody died Monday February 4, 2019 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born February 8, 1935 in De Queen, Arkansas to the late Vernal J. and Lydi Pearl Stell Jacks. She attended St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock and began her career as a Registered Nurse. She married Floyd Moody in 1958, she worked as a nurse in hospitals in Middlesboro, KY and at Redbluff Hospital in Houston, TX. Following Floyd's retirement, they moved to Cookeville in 1975 and Joanne worked as a unit secretary at Cookeville General Hospital. Joanne's life was devoted to her family. She enjoyed all types of crafting and reading. She was a member of New Beginning Assembly of God Church and faithfully ministered to children. She was funny, sweet and would help anyone with anything. She will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Charlie, Buddy, Robert, Herschel and B.F. Jacks; and by sisters, Opal Tuberville and Ailene Stephenson. She is survived by her adoring family, her husband of 60 years, Floyd Otis "Babe" Moody; daughters, Cathy Beechboard and husband Bobby and Kim Grider, all of Cookeville; grandchildren, Brian Beechboard, Brent (Rachel) Beechboard, Jeff (Brandi) Grider and Jason (Jenny) Grider; and by greatgrandchildren, Kylie, Jayden, Jaylyn, Josie, Avery and Jaxon Grider. Brian Beechboard, Brent Beechboard, Jeff Grider, Jason Grider, Bobby Beechboard and Wayne Beechboard will serve as pallbearers. Jaxon Grider will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
