A Mass of Christian Burial for Joanette "JO" Marie Haugk, 95 of Silver Point, was held Thursday, August 5 10 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Cookeville with Father Chris Nunes, V.F. officiating. Interment followed in Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM at Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home and at the church Thursday after 9 AM until service time. Mrs. Haugk passed peacefully Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 7, 1925 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Ralph and Marie Freistroffer Heminger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack M. Haugk on April 9, 1989, they were married June 25, 1943, daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Bobby Simmons, son Rick "Toad" Haugk, infant son Donnie Haugk, sister Carol Doak, brothers Richard and Tom Heminger. Jo was a store clerk until she retired in her 80's at Corner Grocery in Silver Point, where she was known Ms Jo. Jo was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, fishing and going to the casino. Survivors include daughters Karen (Jim) Menke of Greenwood, IN, Joyce (Tim) Overholt of Chesapeake, VA, sons Jim (Ellen) Haugk of Fort Wayne, IN, Bob (Janice) Haugk of Silver Point, Jack (Diana) Haugk of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, daughter-in-law Linda Haugk of Baxter, sisters Sally Stone of Ft. Wayne, IN, Marita Ryan of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., twin brothers Pat Heminger of Miami, FL, Mike Heminger of Colleyville, TX 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren. The family thanks her special friend, Bobbie Watts from St. Thomas Aquinas Church for her visits, prayers and communion while Jo was in Bethesda. Active pallbearers were Brad, David, Matt Haugk, Tommy and Danny Simmons, David Menke, Jason Rodgers, Tracy Stolte, and Marie Krebs.
