Joan Elizabeth Zehring

Funeral services for Mrs. Joan Elizabeth Zehring, age 73 of Sparta, will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 12:00 pm in the Dyer chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Chaplain Erik Cremeans will officiate. Interment will follow in Barnes Cemetery in Overton County.

Her family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Zehring died Monday December 11, 2023 at her daughter's home with Gentiva Hospice.

She was born March 16, 1950 in Sparta, TN to the late Willard Edgar Conner and Mildred Pauline Smith Conner. She was a graduate of Putnam County Senior High.

Joan was employed as a factory worker and later as a baker at Ralph's Donuts in Cookeville. She enjoyed baking delicious bread, muffins and cakes. She enjoyed visiting thrift stores and flea markers for home decor and crafting. She also enjoyed reading, dancing and traveling as was fortunate to visit 48 states in the USA. She was very much a loving and caring person.

In addition to her parents was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Lynn; brother, Joseph Conner; sister, Joey Mansell; and by an infant brother and sister, Jerry Conner and Janice Lou Conner.

Joan is survived by her husband of 20 years, Robert R. Zehring; a daughter, Shelley (Raj) Kumar,of Cookeville; sisters, Jannie Lynn,of Cookeville and Janice Watson,of Rickman; granddaughters, Kari Lynn (Dakota) Cross and Harley (Jeremiah) Stockton, all of Cookeville; greatgrandchildren, Ravyn, Acelyn , Zaylee and Braxton Stockton and Marley Cross; and by nieces and nephews including Sherry and Terry Mansell. She is also survived by a stepson Craig Zehring, of Alexandria, Va and sister in law Betty Lyons, of Timberville VA.
