Jo Ashburn Lynch

Paulina Jo Mahan Ashburn Lynch was born on September 19, 1933 in the Twin Oak Community and lived her life in that community. She was the sixth child of 14 born to Hattie and Clarence Mahan. She was devoted to her family and parents throughout her life. Jo married Kenneth Ashburn on November 26, 1949, and had two children, Joan and Charles. She passed from this life on February 26, 2022. Jo had a passion for learning and wanting to help people. In her 30's she received her LPN degree. Soon afterward, while working as an LPN, she began taking classes at TTU and graduated with an RN degree in 1983. Working with the elderly brought her much joy and most of her work was in the geriatric field. Jo is survived by her husband of 13 years, Dan Lynch; her children, Joan (David) Barrett of Cookeville, and Charles (Wendy) Ashburn of Hooper, Utah. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Becky (Craig) Terry, Katie (Mitch) Butler, Jackie (Josh) Green, Kenny (Lauren) Barrett and Markie (Lorenzo) Bindrup. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. Also surviving are her sisters, Ann Steward, Frances Netherton, Janice Cochran and Judy Tatanish; and brothers, CG Mahan and Robert Mahan. Also surviving are a host of other family members who she loved dearly. Jo was preceded in death by her first husband of 57 years, Kenneth Ashburn, her parents, Hattie and Clarence Mahan and her grandchild, Kaycie Jo Ashburn. Also preceding in death are her sisters, Lorene Ashburn, Reba Massa, Christine Dunn and Ruby Dixon; and brothers, Cleamon Mahan, Alfred Mahan and Keith Mahan. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday March 1 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Dobbs Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time. Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
