Funeral services for Jo Ann Jared Gill, 82, of Cookeville will be held Saturday, November 19 at 10 A.M. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with interment to follow in Jared Cemetery in Buffalo Valley, TN. Pastor Mike Campbell, Pastor Jim Moore, and Rev. Morgan Wallace will officiate. Mrs. Gill died Tuesday morning, November 15, 2011 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born March 24, 1929 at Chestnut Mound Community of Smith County, TN the oldest of two children to the late Morgan Hurt and Mary Ogeal Sanders Jared. Mrs. Gill was a teacher, business owner, a preserver of antiquities, supporter of Upper Cumberland Quilt Festival, member of Cookeville Crafts Group, Dirt Gardners"� Group aka "The Mud Hens"�, and a member of Trinity Assembly in Algood. She was "cheerful in all weather, never shirked a task, splendid behavior, lover of life and lived it large."� In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lloyd Gill (who died July 24, 2011), and a great granddaughter, Molly Slagle. Mrs. Gill is survived by two daughters, Peggy Ann Gill Slagle and husband David Ronnie Slagle and Mary Neil Gill Caneer, two sons, William Marcus Gill and wife Mona Jane Tilghman Gill and James Alfred Gill and wife Margaret Beth Johnson Gill, fourteen grandchildren, Marcus Gill, Katie Gill, Jenny Gill, Joseph Gill, Joanna Slagle, Jeff (Stephanie) Slagle, Rod (Teresa) Slagle, Carrie (Mike) Hurst, Samantha Caneer, Samuel, Caneer, Emily Gill, Laura Gill, James Gill and John Gill, five great grandchildren, Tyler and Wyatt Slagle, Cassi Slagle and Riley and Reagan Hurst and one sister, Peggy Jared Wallace of Buffalo Valley. The family will receive friends Friday after 5 PM and Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ashraya Orphanage Missions, PO Box 158838, Nashville, TN 37215.
