Memorial services for Mr. James Edward (Jim) Walker Jr., 84 of Monterey, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 3 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Dr. Martin Thielen and Rev. Whitney Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Walker died Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born June 15, 1931 in Monterey, TN to the late James Edward Sr. and Mary Frances McDearman Walker. Mr. Walker graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, TN. He then earned a bachelor's degree in business at Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (TTU). While at TPI he was a member of the ROTC and served in the US Army after graduation. He later moved back to Monterey and operated Monterey Hardwood Flooring Company. He eventually sold the company to pursue his interest in real estate development. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith (Edie) Walker, son William (Bill) Walker. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Al Enochs of Cookeville, Amy and John Scholz of Summerville, SC; step-son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Randall and Arlene Barsumian of Cookeville; brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Bob) and Babs Walker of Nashville; grandchildren, Will Enochs, Hunter Enochs, Jim Enochs, Daniel Walker, Eric Walker, Bonnie Kate Walker, Michael Scholz (wife Abby), Andrew Scholz, and Brian Barsumian (wife Sharon); great-grandchild, Autumn Barsumian; and several nieces and nephews.
