Funeral services for Jimmy C. Haggard, 71 of the Boma Community will be Wednesday, August 5 at 2 P.M. at New Home Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the New Home Baptist Church Cemetery in the Boma Community. Mr. Haggard went to be with the Lord, Sunday Morning, August 2, 2015 at his home. He was born April 1, 1944 in Putnam County to the late Toy Ernest and Minnie Lena Brown Haggard. He was a member of New Home Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Song Leader. He worked with Acme Boot Company for twenty years and retired from Porelon/Identity Group with twenty three years of service. He loved his Lord, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He loved volleyball, gardening and working on the farm. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Ernest L. Haggard, grandparents: L.B. and Mary Jane Anderson Brown, William Tyre and Maggie Bates Haggard and a brother-in-law Paul Waddell. Survivors include his wife of 46 years Deloris Taylor Haggard (Married March 21, 1969 in Boma), daughter and son-in-law Amy and Charles Rodgers of Baxter, two sons and a daughter-in-law Chris Haggard, John and Shannon Haggard all of Baxter, three sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Frances Waddell of Old Hickory, Linda Sue and David Vantrease of Spring, Texas, Patricia Ann and Steve Cawood of Meridian, Idaho, five brothers and sisters-in-law Carl and Jean Haggard of Baxter, Eugene and Mary Nell Haggard of Silver Point, Billy and Barbara Haggard of Baxter, Marlin and Beverly Haggard of Baxter, Wayne and Shelly Haggard of Silver Point grandchildren: Brantley Harper Haggard-Thompson, Mason Haggard and Titus Rodgers, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends at Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home Tuesday from 3 to 8 pm and Wednesday at the church after 11 am. Rev. Charlie Wills and Rev. Herb Leftwich will officiate. Nephews will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of New Home Baptist Church.
