Jimmy attended Pineview Elementary School, Cumberland County High School, and Carson-Newman University graduating in 1973 with a degree in accounting. He pursued his chosen career in private industry, with Tennessee State Audit, Peabody College, and Tennessee Technological University until his retirement in 2012.

Jimmy was a talented potter and an avid collector. He enjoyed a wide variety of sports having been on the track team while at Carson-Newman. He taught himself to play tennis and golf, and coached his sons in baseball and soccer. He was also a life-long supporter of the University of Tennessee Volunteers.

Possessing the "gift of gab," Jimmy enjoyed sometimes long conversations and debates with friends. He was an extremely generous individual who felt compelled to assist, preferably anonymously, anyone in need.

A celebration of life service will be planned for the near future. If you choose to make a contribution in his memory, Jimmy's favorite non-profit was St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
