Joint graveside services and interment for Jimmy and Allene Dickens will be at 1 p.m. Monday December 28 at Cookeville City Cemetery. Chaplain Jim McAfee will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the veterans honor guard. Please practice social distancing and the use of masks are encouraged. Jimmy passed away November 27, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Allene passed away Tuesday December 22, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville. Allene was born March 13, 1949 in Dry Hollow, TN to the late Rev. Willie Elmer and Dolly Rhoda Walker Tinch. She attended Livingston Academy and Cosmetology school. Jimmy was born December 4, 1938 in Old Hickory, TN to the late Charles and Pauline Overstreet Dickens. He attended DuPont Elementary and graduated from DuPont High School. He attended Tennessee Tech University and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University. Jimmy worked as a probation and parole officer for the State of Tennessee. Jimmy served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963, where he was stationed in Alaska and later at Ft. Lee, Virginia. Jimmy and Allene married May 13, 1972. They lived in Sparta, TN when their children were in elementary school age but moved to Smith County where both their daughters, Jennifer and Mindy graduated high school. He and his wife, Allene moved to Cookeville in July 2013. They were members of Gentry's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Their family includes daughter, Jennifer Henson-Collins who is the mother of four of Allene’s grandchildren: Andrew Henson, Rebecca Henson, Emily Collins and Jackson Collins; daughter, Mindy Youngblood (husband Dan) is the mother of three of Allene’s grandchildren: McKinley Youngblood and twins Marshall and Makayla Youngblood. Allene is survived by one brother Paul Tinch (Barb), Middletown, Indiana. Allene was preceded in death by her brother, Lawton Tinch and her brother Willie Tinch and her sisters Beulah Tinch Hale, Earlene Tinch Brown, Imogene Tinch Monroe and Barbara Nell Tinch Enochs JImmy was preceded in death by two sisters, Charline Dickens and Shirline Elrod.
