Jewell Hunter

Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell Elene Hunter, age 80, of Algood, will be held at 3pm Tuesday, September 20 in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Acuff officiating. Interment will follow in the Carter-Bilbrey Cemetery in Overton County. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 - 8pm and again Tuesday from 1 - 3pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Hunter passed away Thursday evening, September 15, 2016 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born May 5, 1936 in Overton County, TN to the late Noble "Hix" and Nancy Avo Speck Bilbrey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hunter; son Gene Bilbrey; six brothers, Jack, Jim, Pete, Roy, McCoy, and Doyle Bilbrey; and two sisters, Marie McCormick and Myrtle Bilbrey. Mrs. Hunter was a homemaker and member of Algood Church of Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put her family first. She enjoyed visits from friends and reading her Bible. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Vicky and Scottie Roberts, Jane Ann Tidwell, all of Cookeville; sons, Ricky Hunter of San Diego, CA and Bobby Hunter of Cookeville; special granddaughter, Heather Roberts; grandchildren, Matt Hunter, Miranda Gantt, Gina Bilbrey, Christy Brown; daughter-in-law, Marla Bilbrey; and great-grandchildren, Aysiah, Marley, Parker, Trevor, Zayden, Stella, Owen. Cody Green, Zach Gantt, Justin Ledbetter, Jere Whitson, Jimmy Walker, and Keith Walker will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Brown, Bobby Rothfus, and Deuel White. Memorial contributions may be made to CRMC Foundation Heart Fund, One Medical Center Blvd, Cookeville, TN 38501. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
