Funeral services for Jewell Christine Maddux, age 85 of Cookeville, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010 from the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home with burial in the West Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 9 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Maddux passed away Monday, April 5, 2010 Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born March 14, 1925 in Putnam County TN to the late Causby Bowman and Addie Sherrell Bowman. Jewell worked as a telephone operator for GTE for 37 years. She and her husband Leonard are members of Taylor’s Seminary Free Will Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Leonard, and two sons; Larry Maddux and his wife Pam of Salem IL, and Ricky Maddux and his wife Gale of Franklin TN. In addition to her children, Jewell is also survived by four brothers; Finis Bowman (wife Charlie Mai) of Donelson, Truman Bowman (wife Vivian) of Cookeville, Jerry Bowman (wife Bonnie) of Mt. Juliet and David Bowman (wife Donna) of Baxter, as well as one sister, Mattie Stewart and husband Billy of Cookeville. She was grandmother to three; Kelly Bourland and husband Blake of Memphis TN, Ben Maddux and wife Corrie of Knoxville and Rachel Maddux of Franklin as well as great grandmother to four: Libby and Knox Bourland and Casen and Layla Maddux. In addition to her parents, Jewell was preceded in death by one brother, James Bowman; and one sister, Geraldine Lollar. Pallbearers for the service on Saturday will be family and friends. Bro. Jerry Buckner will connduct the services.
