Jessie William Grasty

Funeral services for Jessie William (JW) Grasty, 71, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 26, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sand Springs Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today, Sunday, April 25, at the funeral home. Mr. Grasty died Friday, April 23, 2010, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born March 9, 1939, in Putnam County to the late Willis and Phoebe Henry Grasty. Mr. Grasty was a member of Verble Free Will Baptist Church. He was a retired truck driver from J.R. Nash Moving and Storage. His family includes his wife of 48 years, Mable Grasty; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jessie William Grasty Jr. of Hilham and Larry and Betty Grasty of Cookeville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie and Nicky Ray and Theresa Roberts, all of Cookeville; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jr. and Wanda Grasty and Gary Grasty, all of Cookeville, and Alvin and Sandy Sparks of Florida; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Marie Grasty; three sisters, Lucille Sparks, Willadean Grasty and Margie Hensley; and four brothers, Dewey Grasty and Kenneth, Clinton and James Sparks. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Bro. Bobby Sebastian will officiate at the services.
