Funeral services for Ms. Jessie Lea Thomas, age 84, of Cookeville, will be 12 noon Saturday December 1 at Dyer Funeral Home. Bro. Jeremiah Tatum will officiate. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Ms. Thomas passed away Thursday afternoon November 29, 2018 at NHC of Cookeville. She was born September 7, 1934 in Putnam County, TN to the late Chester and Hattie Allison Thomas. Ms. Thomas was a graduate of Baxter Seminary. She was retired housekeeping manager at the former Rice Motor Inn. She enjoyed cooking for gatherings and spending time with family. She is survived by two sisters, Marie Palmer of Richmond, KY and Helen Burgess of Cookeville; brother, CJ Thomas of Cookeville; nieces, Sharon Isaac, JoAnn Thompson, Miltra Sheinker, Myrna Phelps, Debra Carter, Hilda Hall, Joan Dildine, Joyce Nash, Judy Martin, Jeannett Irby, Janice Long, and Maxine Trapp; nephews, Darrell Palmer, Roger Levaughn Thomas, Dennis Thomas, Mark Thomas, Joey Thomas, Dwight Thomas, Carlos Thomas, Freddie Burgess, Tim Burgess, Don Terry Burgess, and Donnie Shelton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Myrtle Allison, Arvie Martin, Mildred Shelton, and Pauline Sherill; and five brothers, Enoch, Clifford, Arden, Ray, and Fred Thomas.
