Funeral services for Jerry William Tays, 71, of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, January 6, at 1 pm in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Fred Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 "� 8 pm and again Sunday from 12 noon until service time. Cookeville Masonic Lodge #266 F&AM will conduct a Masonic Memorial Service Saturday at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Tays died Thursday evening January 3, 2013 at his home. He was born December 10, 1941 in Cookeville to the late Willie Bryson and Edna Elizabeth Eller Tays. Mr. Tays attended Cookeville First Church of God. He was retired with over 30 years of service with the Cookeville Electric Department and was formerly employed with the Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation. He was a 36 year member of Cookeville Masonic Lodge #266 F&AM. Mr. Tays enjoyed hunting, beagle dogs, and trading. He cherished his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lena Hawkins Tays (whom he married October 20, 1962 in Baxter); two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Donnie Vinson, and Linette and Casey Flatt, all of Cookeville; three grandchildren, Brandon Vinson, Kelsey Flatt, and Trevor Flatt; one great-grandson, Ryland O"�Connor; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Donnie & Debbie Tays and Carl Tays all of Cookeville. Pallbearers will be Scottie Roberts, Gary Dale Allen, Dwight Adcock, Mike Hawkins, Jonnie Tays, and Josh Gentry.
