Funeral services for Jerry Leon Scarlett, 73 of Cookeville will be Wednesday, December 22 at 1 PM from the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment, with military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard will follow in West Cemetery in the Burgess Falls Community. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 AM until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Benton Flatt will officiate. Mr. Scarlett died Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born August 8, 1948 in Cookeville to the late Dover and Vada Elizabeth Null Scarlett. Jerry was a Marine Corps veteran serving in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans organization. He was a retired fiber optics technician in the communications field. He was of the Baptist faith. Jerry enjoyed all music, playing the harmonica, singing the blues, animals, he loved life and was a comedian. Survivors include wife Sharon Caplinger Scarlett of Cookeville, son Steven Scarlett of Cookeville, step son Josh (Jessica) Hayes, sister Helen Pearson of Cookeville, step-granddaughter Amaya Katelyn Hayes, nieces: Charlotte Sanders, Donna Harris, Dixie Pearson, Emily Pearson, nephew Jonathan Pearson, grand nieces Ally Wright, Ashley Greenlee, Amber Greenlee, grand nephew Michael Pearson, host of cousins.
