Jerry Pirtle

Funeral services for Jerry Pirtle, 86 of Silver Point, TN. will be Sunday, December 28 at 3 P.M. from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Graveside services and Interment will be Monday, December 29 at 11 A.M. at Maple Hill Cemetery in Portland, TN. Rev. Tony Crow will officiate. Mr. Pirtle died Friday, December 26, 2014 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born December 18, 1928 in Portland, Sumner County, Tennessee to the late Ernest and Emma Hagan Pirtle. He was a Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Jerry was a retired tow motor operator with Gates Rubber Company in Madison, Tn. with over 30 years service. He served as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years at Union Chapel General Baptist Church in Portland and after moving to Putnam County served as Deacon for many years at Silver Point Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by first wife, Martha Harper Pirtle, second wife Ruth Scott Huddleston Pirtle, sisters Margaret Brown and Lorie Rowlette and a brother J.T. Pirtle. Survivors include daughters Caroline (Dennis) Sizemore of Fredericksburg, VA, Glenna Vincent, Kathy (Robert) Little all of Silver Point, sons Bryan (Phyllis) Pirtle of Portland, Danny (Rhonda "Sudie") Huddleston of Silver Point, brother Arnold Pirtle of Gallatin, TN., 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 8 P.M. and Sunday from 2 p.m to service time at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
