Funeral services for Jerry Raymond Peek, age 77 of Cookeville, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 23 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Keith Tosh and Bro. Mike Gillock will officiate. Interment will follow at Shipley Cemetery. His family will receive friends Friday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 12 noon until service time. Jerry passed away Thursday October 21, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born August 8, 1944 in Putnam County, TN to the late Raymond and Dorothy Miller Peek. Jerry was an active member of Knight's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church where he served in various ministry positions. He worked at McCord Winn for eight years. Later in 1971, he became a self-employed painter. Jerry loved taking care of his garden, hunting, fishing, and all sports. He was a jokester and always made you feel welcome. He loved being outside and taking care of his home. In his pastime, he enjoyed watching westerns and sitting on the porch. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Velma King Peek, whom he married April 16, 1963; daughter, Terri (Tim) Nash; son, Jeff (Alice) Peek; two granddaughters, Mackenzie and Madison Nash, all of Cookeville; two sisters, Linda (Edd) Robinson of Cookeville, Tammy (Mark) Dodd of Lenoir City, TN; brother-in-law, Tom England of Sparta; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Martha Lafever of Cookeville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Donna England; and sister-in-law, Thelma King Cunningham. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
